Before you slam down your morning brew on the way to work, consider this.
Not all coffee brands are made equal. Some rely on the cycle of unfair wages, land mismanagement and exploitation, while others are actively trying to break it.
The brand you buy from matters. A lot. At Nine Yards Coffee, we’re part of a growing network of specialty roasters doing things differently.
Partners
We partner with companies like Caravela, Forest and Café Imports to connect us with farmers who grow
top-notch coffee under the best conditions. These producers run small-scale operations that have been in their families for generations. Buying through
Caravela guarantees our growers fair wages, educational opportunities and
community development.
Regenerative practices
Our producers use regenerative farming methods, like closed-loop water systems and intercropping, to maintain biodiversity and soil health. They make sure the land can be used again and again for other crops, too, like raspberries, bananas, cassava.
Product
Our sourcing partners adhere to strict traceability standards, which gives us total confidence in the quality of the raw product. We pay our farmers above-market prices for the premium beans they produce, knowing that it contributes to their ongoing education and business development.
Projects
Through our partnership with Caravela and Forest, we support projects that do a whole lot of good in coffee growing communities. These include reforestation initiatives,
education and training programs and game-changing farm upgrades, like
wastewater treatment solutions and internet access.
Packaging
Our coffee is packaged in air-tight bags, and we are transitioning to 100% recycled coffee bags. For larger orders, our wholesale partners can choose to have their beans delivered in reusable steel drums, which we personally deliver, collect once empty, and refill again and again.
Visit us at Brookvale or The Brightside, Mona Vale Beach. Our coffee cups are fully recyclable – just pop it in your blue bin when you’re one.
